The beginning of this year was tough. I was trying to leave a stressful job, and working hard to save extra money in case I had a gap in employment between jobs. I was also dealing with a hamstring injury. As a result of the stress and my body succumbing to injury, my gym routine suffered. At the beginning of the summer, I tried to slowly get back on track, and eventually decided to hire my super badass, incredibly fit, impressively toned, and sweetheart of a trainer, Natalie, at David Barton Gym who helped me jumps start things. I started my training the day after my birthday, in hopes of getting back on track for my 29th year.

Every year, the boyfriend (now fiance!) and I decide to forego presents for each other at Christmastime in exchange for spending a day together doing Christmasy things around the city. We’d rather have an experience and create memories than buy each other material things. And to be honest, it’s so much better because I remember our experiences together year after year and they have become really special memories. Meanwhile, I can’t remember what anyone got me for Christmas 3 or 4 years ago!

I’ve been wanting to start this blog for a while, as a space to document my life (an online diary so to speak), keep track of my fitness progress, and to also act as a sort of therapeutic space where I can get my thoughts out and clear my head. I figured the best time to start this is now- I’ve been putting it off for long enough!

You see, last weekend I got engaged. I’ve been in this blissful state of happiness ever since, and feel motivated to make positive changes in my life. I’ll talk about that more later, but for now, let me tell you all about the engagement!
