While I really love going to the gym, especially on weekends (when I feel like I can spend more time there and not have to rush), there are definitely times when it is nice to not have to leave the apartment to workout–especially during the long, cold New York winters!
In order to get in a great workout at home, these are my picks for my at-home workout wishlist:
Bosu Ball: I do so much with the bosu, I would love to have one at home. From planks to pushups to glutes to squats, you can seriously do so many exercises with it! Plus they make them in pink, which somehow makes it even more fun to use. 🙂 While $129.95 on Bosu’s website, you can also find them a little cheaper on Amazon ($105.99 for the blue one).
Kettlebells: Great for adding force to your strength training and working on explosion. I love doing a variety of exercises with them from cleans to push-press, from snatches to oblique side bends. Another piece of equipment you can use for a full body workout! So many different ones available in different weights on Amazon (prices vary depending on weights but look to spend around $20-$25 for a 15lb-er. You can also buy a set for anywhere from $60-$100+).
Resistance Bands: These are another versatile product that you can use for a full body workout, and the bonus with these are that they are so easy to pack up and travel with (as hotel gyms can sometimes be seriously lacking). This set (on sale for $32.03) on Amazon is amazing: it has soft-grip handles, ankle straps, and an attachment so you can anchor them to a door.
TRX Trainer: Another great at-home strength trainer that you can also travel with! If you are looking to engage your core with every exercise you do, this is perfect. TRX’s website has the pink one on sale right now for $149.95 (regularly $199.95).
Stability ball: I love the stability ball for core exercises, whether it’s doing crunches on it, or planks, or using it to do ab rollouts. Working my core is my favorite, and this one is on sale on Amazon for only $13.49 (bonus that you can get it in pink)!
Medicine ball: Again, the theme here is core! I love the medicine ball for doing seated oblique twists, and also for holding and twisting during lunges, squats, and other plyometric-type exercises. You can buy them in different weights, so you can get one that is challenging for you! Amazon has a ton to choose from, at varying price points (you can also buy them in sets of various weights).
Dumbbells: This one is so obvious, yet I don’t own any at home, so these need to go on my wishlist! An important piece of equipment for working your biceps, triceps, shoulders, and back that can’t be overlooked. I think it’s best to get a set with different weights in a few different sizes, and I am a big fan of ones that are rubberized.
