In the craziness of the move, I had to get one very important wedding-related task completed: mailing out our wedding invites! I ended up using Minted, the same site I used to design our Save the Date photos.
I wanted something that was rustic but had a romantic touch, and found these. I thought they were perfect for the vision we were going for, and what is so great about Minted is that once you personalize your invite on their website, they have a designer perfect it, and then send you a proof to approve. So the designer was able to change some little touches (like some of the font) which was awesome. We went with the matching RSVP cards, but did some custom design when it came to the color so that they would match better– I loved the idea of doing them in a blush pink to match our wedding colors!
It has been over a month since I’ve last posted, and I definitely have some things to catch up on! The past few weeks have been hectic, not just because I went back to my old job, but also because Sheraz and I decided that, on top of wedding planning, now would also be a good time to move. Yes, we are crazy.
Honestly, in the past month we haven’t done a whole lot of wedding planning because we’ve been focused on other things. But we did decide to add an extra half hour to our time at the venue, so now our ceremony will be at 4:30, and the reception will be a full 5 hours from 5pm-10pm. I’m glad we won’t have to rush the ceremony and the reception in a 5 hour window–it was stressing me out whether we’d have enough time! Also, I did get to check one big thing off the list: picking out bridesmaid dresses!
This weekend was so much fun that it flew by and I needed the first part of the week to recover, haha! Now that I am, I wanted to share our wedding tasting from this weekend. We had our tasting at our caterer, Cloud Nine, on Saturday afternoon. Going into it, we weren’t really sure what to expect, although we had to provide them with our tasting options from their (incredibly extensive) menu in advance. We had to choose one of everything that we’ll get for the wedding day: our stationary table option, 4 hors d’oeuvres, one soup or salad, two protein entrees, one veg entree, one starch side, one veggie side, and dessert. There’s a little bit of pressure because if you don’t like something, you won’t get to try what you swap it out for (or you have to pay to do a second tasting because only one is included for free).
Luckily, we LOVED everything we tried! And they served us wine along with our food, which made it even better!
So, because I am off to Connecticut today to meet with the florist, I decided to share some of the floral designs (bouquets and centerpieces) that have inspired me lately! I’m not entirely sure yet what we want yet in terms of design (there are so many pretty looks that it’s hard to narrow it down), but I’m hoping that this meeting will help us shape our vision for the day!
I do, however, know I’ve been gravitating toward soft, romantic florals in light pinks, blushes, and whites. And I have fallen in love with cafe au lait dahlias, which I think are the flower I want featured throughout our day. Luckily, they are in season in the summer!
Yay, so I definitely have some wedding updates, and it feels like we are slowly, but surely, making some progress! We had a call with an officiant last week, and we are going to move forward and book him! And we have also found our photographer! 🙂 After a call with her on Saturday, she just confirmed our initial feelings about her, and we definitely want her there to capture our wedding day.
While it definitely feels stressful having to research all these different vendors, then reach out to them and compare both prices and what they offer, it feels so good when you finally settle on someone you are comfortable with.
