In the craziness of the move, I had to get one very important wedding-related task completed: mailing out our wedding invites! I ended up using Minted, the same site I used to design our Save the Date photos.
I wanted something that was rustic but had a romantic touch, and found these. I thought they were perfect for the vision we were going for, and what is so great about Minted is that once you personalize your invite on their website, they have a designer perfect it, and then send you a proof to approve. So the designer was able to change some little touches (like some of the font) which was awesome. We went with the matching RSVP cards, but did some custom design when it came to the color so that they would match better– I loved the idea of doing them in a blush pink to match our wedding colors!
Well, a lot has happened since I last updated this, so I really have some catching up to do!
First of all, yesterday marked two months until our wedding day, so we are officially on the countdown now! We spent the day doing one very important wedding-related task: picking out my wedding band! We just sent out our invites about a week ago, and have already gotten some RSVP’s returned back to us, which is exciting. I will share our invites in another post because I am so in love with how they came out!
The other big change since I have last blogged (and it’s a BIG one!) is that Sheraz and I have moved to a new apartment!
We are still on the Upper East Side, but we actually moved south 14 blocks, into a place that is 1388357504684545 times better than the crappy little apartment we were in. Let’s just say we seriously upgraded and it was REALLY needed. I can’t say that we have more space in the new place, but we have better utilized space, and NEW space. Our building is brand new, and it is a dreeeeam coming from a place where there were roaches, things never got fixed, and the appliances were so old they had to be considered a safety hazard.
It has been over a month since I’ve last posted, and I definitely have some things to catch up on! The past few weeks have been hectic, not just because I went back to my old job, but also because Sheraz and I decided that, on top of wedding planning, now would also be a good time to move. Yes, we are crazy.
Honestly, in the past month we haven’t done a whole lot of wedding planning because we’ve been focused on other things. But we did decide to add an extra half hour to our time at the venue, so now our ceremony will be at 4:30, and the reception will be a full 5 hours from 5pm-10pm. I’m glad we won’t have to rush the ceremony and the reception in a 5 hour window–it was stressing me out whether we’d have enough time! Also, I did get to check one big thing off the list: picking out bridesmaid dresses!
This weekend was so much fun that it flew by and I needed the first part of the week to recover, haha! Now that I am, I wanted to share our wedding tasting from this weekend. We had our tasting at our caterer, Cloud Nine, on Saturday afternoon. Going into it, we weren’t really sure what to expect, although we had to provide them with our tasting options from their (incredibly extensive) menu in advance. We had to choose one of everything that we’ll get for the wedding day: our stationary table option, 4 hors d’oeuvres, one soup or salad, two protein entrees, one veg entree, one starch side, one veggie side, and dessert. There’s a little bit of pressure because if you don’t like something, you won’t get to try what you swap it out for (or you have to pay to do a second tasting because only one is included for free).
Luckily, we LOVED everything we tried! And they served us wine along with our food, which made it even better!
Now that I’ve found my wedding dress (it still makes me so excited to say that!), I’ve started to look for other accessories I’ll need for the day, as well as my shoes! From what I’ve seen so far, the majority of bridal shoes are not particularly flattering. For some reason, most of them look like they were designed for women my grandmother’s age, and I want a pair that is pretty enough to show off! While I would love to rock a pair of Valentino’s (I can dream), those are way out of my price range. But I’ve found some options that don’t break the bank, and that are cute enough to possibly re-wear if an occasion ever came up (ya know, like if I ever get invited to a red carpet event haha). Betsey Johnson makes a really cute bridal line, Blue, and I’ve featured a bunch of those shoes here, in addition to some others I came across:
Hope everyone’s week is off to a great start! And Happy Leap Day!
It’s an exciting week for me because tomorrow is my last day at my job. I am actually returning to my old job, which I left almost exactly 1 year ago. I don’t regret leaving, and I think that time away has given me a welcome, and necessary, perspective. I think that this will be a good decision for me for a lot of reasons. Anyway, I’m really freakin excited to go back!
In gearing up for the week, the fiance and I may have gone a *little* overboard with celebrating this weekend (is that possible?) We went to brunch on BOTH Saturday and Sunday! haha. We had two amazing meals:
On this awful, cold, rainy day, I feel like summer really can’t come fast enough! I have so much to look forward to this summer with the wedding, and with my bachelorette beach weekend already booked (my amazing Maid of Honor rented a house on Fire Island!), and the fiance and I starting to look at honeymoon destinations (we just want to be on a beach where we can relax and enjoy the sand, the water, and some tropical drinks), I’m definitely in the market for some new bathing suits!
These are some of the ones that I have been coveting lately (apparently I’m really into one pieces!):
